Elves, or Kal'thasa, are lithe, long-lived humanoids that are known for their keen senses, grace, beauty, and connection with the natural world. Standing at average between 5'4" and 6'0" ft. and weighing in between 130 and 170 lbs usually, elves are naturally slender and athletic. Hair, eye, and skin color vary by subrace.Elves are fair and beautiful, and have pointed ears and no body hair except eyebrows, eyelashes and upon their heads.
The most common subrace of elves, the sand elves were once sylvan elves, and inhabited the many forests that once covered Hala'as. When the cataclysm destroyed Eluvae, the elven goddess, she used her final dying breath to change those elves that had come to rely upon the forests and woodlands for survival, altering them to be more at home in the deserts they were inevitably cursed to live in.
Known in their language as Sen'thasa, the sand elves possess hair that ranges from pale tan to dark brown in color, with light, yellow-tinted or tan skin, and have adapted well to life in the sandy desert wasteland. They are resistant to the harsh sunlight of the desert, and are capable of handling higher temperatures than most other races.
Abilities: As per the default race.
Known among their own kind as the Fel'thasa, the high elves have retained their realm in spite of the havoc caused by the cataclysm. With a culture richly steeped in arcane magic, they managed to preserve most of their power in the wake of the devastation, and have chosen to seclude much of their activity from outsiders as a result.
High elves are slightly taller and more slender than other elves, with very pale skin and lightly-colored hair. They tend to be frail even for elves, but are remarkably more intelligent and more capable of grasping the intricate concepts of magic.

The dark elves, known as the Vrum'thasa, are a reclusive and xenophobic species of elf that inhabited secluded mountain cities prior to the cataclysm, many of which they still remain safely hidden within. They consider all other species to be inferior to themselves save for high elves, whom they consider to be equal, if a little misguided. Dark elves are not inherently evil, but their disdain for other species can make them seen cruel, harsh, and even sociopathic.
Dark elves, as their name implies, have darkly colored skin ranging from deep brown to a ruddy olive tone. Their hair ranges from pitch black to sandy brown, and is occasionally gray in color.
Abilities: +2 Dexterity, +2 Wisdom, -2 Constitution, -2 Charisma
Shadow elves are a rarely-seen subrace of elves, and the cataclysm has only made them more so. They are known as Shan'thasa among their people, and are known for being wild and unpredictable, much akin to wild animals in their behavior. Shadow elves detest light of any kind, and in fact are physically burned by exposure to direct sunlight, while finding the light from torches and magical Light spells physically painful both to the eyes and skin. They inhabit subterranean caves, which they rarely leave, and if so only under the cover of darkness.
Shadow elves possess jet black skin and hair without exception. Their eyes lack pupils or irises, instead appearing as pure white, leading many to mistakenly believe them to be blind, while in truth they can see remarkably well in dim light and even in complete darkness.
